Repetition series

2011 - 2016

This series of work was the precursor to developing my process as part of the iteration and process drawing series. I come back to this at times as I continue to be fascinated by the effect of repetition on natural images

In Plaster series

2013 - 2014

This series of work is highly experimental and was undertaken with no goals in mind beyond investigating the materials and the different interactions that could be created. This series was crucial in developing my understanding of the types of marks and reactions which are apparent through all my practice.

Slitscan Variant: mathematical transformation

2012

This series is based on slitscan where a line of pixels it taken from each frame of a video and compiled to create a new image. I use a single image from which I take a slit of pixels, rotate the image, then take another slit and continue the process until I have completed 360 degrees. I'm fascinated how the original image is mathematically altered.

In Ice series

2012

Ice is fascinating and impacts the world on both the largest and smallest of scales and can provide snapshots through time. Working with ice is appealing as it is transient and unique, each piece is distinctive even when created using the same process. For me, working in ice is about going beyond the 'brush' as a painting tool.

From Nature: Repetition

2011

These images are inspired by repetition; by using photographs of features in the environment I aim to create a sense of order and balance. Key to this is the removal of context and presenting something new. The source photographs can be seen on the nature photography page
