Polser Brook Sanctuary
This little spot sites beneath the Grantham Canal near Bassingfield on the outskirts of Nottingham. It was discovered by chance and it invited me down beneath the canal to the small brook beneath. The concrete structure of the canal at odds with the hushed sounds of the trees and the water moving along the brook.

Return to the hidden oasis,
Nestled beneath the trees
Nestled beneath the trees, easy to miss
A calming twinkle of water over rocks
Dappled shade, sunshine through branches
Concrete structures harden the green
The sound of the birds sings from high
Stranger stops, breaking the sounds
Time out is welcome, somewhere to hide
Hot doggy breath and tumbling water
Bird song and pheasant caws
Words inspired by my first visit down to the brook
