Sanctuary at Tarbat Ness
My second visit to Tarbat Ness, jutting out into the Moray Firth, was in September 2020 and I felt like I’d been called back there. Called to spend time observing, breathing, sensing and considering the magnificence of the rock covered spit of land overseen by the statuesque lighthouse.

A tentative walk to the edge of the spit
Grand open landscape punctuated by lighthouse
The approach feels so quiet, just the wind in the air
Take it all in, the earth, sea, plants and skies
Out on the edge, a path to the water
Rest on the rocks, a seat made through time
The sound stereophonic, relentless and loud
A sanctuary here, one full of surprise
Feel like I’m being watched, sense of some body
