Abstracted 35
This series started as an experimental consideration of 35mm slides - something beautifully analogue and precious, the images captured in time. I created an experimental process using familiar materials like ink, pigment and chemicals to see what could be created in such small forms.

Changing scale and perceptions
I’ve always been fascinated by the tiny details that we often miss as we move through the world. This series is an extension of that idea, creating something small that changes when it is blown up in print or through projection. Each set of images in unique, being led by a different process in creating the marks, in some, the colours are vivid, in others monochromatic with a focus on a single colour.
The invitation is to view the images and imagine what they might or might not represent.

These images are tests to consider the limits of what can be conveyed in an abstract image, the source images are blended until no distinct detail remains. The resulting images are ephemeral and allow the viewer the opportunity to imagine and imprint their own view. The images in this set correspond to those above.
