Paul Liptrot's thoughts and musings!

This is the place to find out what I'm working on or researching at the moment. The blog is split into my inspirations in art and science, and my work and my current thinking.

Urban commentator? Artist? Architect? Social activist? None of these can truly convey the depth and excitement that Asim Waqif brings to each of his projects. His architectural background is clear but he transcends this to make work that speaks of the modern world and the challenges of losing the past.

For me his most exciting works are those involving bamboo, structures of incredible precision and strength yet entirely made by hand - an anathema in the machine driven age we live in. At polar opposite to this is Andekhi Yumna, an installation using plastic bottles and LEDS strung together and pulled across the Yamuna river at night highlighting our wasteful society. His ability to highlight contemporary issues with subtlety demonstrates that the key to hearts and minds is often through beauty.
